Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on OTR routes within the Northeast Region, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload freight such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (Hazmat), dangerous goods, or specialty cargo like flatbed or tanker loads.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to optimize routes and meet delivery schedules while maintaining safety at all times.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to verify mechanical condition and ensure cargo security.
- Collaborate with team members for coordinated driving shifts, maintaining open communication to ensure smooth operations.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks, following proper manual handling procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving across diverse terrains.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers.
- Ability to operate automatic transmission.
- Strong navigation skills using GPS systems to plan optimal routes within the Northeast Region.
- Experience with logistics cargo handling, truck loading/unloading procedures, and freight management.
- Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) rules.
