What You'll Do
As a Fire Alarm Technician, you'll be responsible for installing, servicing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining commercial fire alarm systems while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards. Your work will directly contribute to protecting people and property while delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair commercial fire alarm systems.
- Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance in accordance with NFPA standards and manufacturer requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and system drawings.
- Diagnose system issues and perform repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Complete accurate service reports, inspection documentation, and job records using company software.
- Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, inspectors, and fellow team members.
- Coordinate with construction teams and other trades to ensure successful project completion.
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA, NEC, local AHJ requirements, and company quality standards.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and professional manner.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings, required training, and continuing education programs.
What We're Looking For
- Experience installing, servicing, inspecting, or troubleshooting commercial fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and applicable fire and life safety codes.
- Experience with low-voltage systems and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and construction documents.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders, lifts, and active construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Certification (Level I-IV)
- Manufacturer certifications such as Siemens, Silent Knight, Potter, Edwards, Notifier, Fire-Lite, or similar
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience with inspections, programming, service, and commissioning
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred)
