Job Title: Engineering Aide
Performs limited but skilled engineering duties in connection with investigation, development and maintenance of engineering projects; does related work as required.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
- Observes construction sites for compliance and creates daily reports
- Works with contractor to resolve problems that arise on construction sites
- Inspect other various projects when directed by the Township Engineer, or Assistant Township Engineer
- Perform drafting and design work as required
- Interprets / produces department maps, plans, reports, and records
- Gather information for various complaints and projects and report findings to the Township Engineer or Assistant Township Engineer. Write memoranda to address issues
- Inspect sidewalk complaints, report to the Township Engineer or Assistant Township Engineer, maintain complaint list, and arrange for repairs.
- Upkeep of assigned vehicle (e.g. bringing to Public Works for scheduled maintenance, cleanliness)
- Provides assistance to other Engineering department staff with inspections, phone/office coverage, permitting, and miscellaneous tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience, Technical Skills, and Knowledge:
- Entry level position
- Computer knowledge and skills, including a basic understanding of AutoCAD (or equivalent) and MS Office Suite
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and plans
- Make accurate, neat and legible drawings;
- Basic knowledge of engineering practices and field survey and drafting work; good knowledge of elementary mathematics
Desired Experience, Technical Skills, and Knowledge:
- 1 to 5 years of related Civil Engineering work experience, or equivalent
- Municipal engineering experience
- Fundamental knowledge of GIS systems
Education / Certification / License Required:
- Associate degree in a field such as civil engineering technology
- A valid NJ driver's license in good standing
Education / Certification / License Desired:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Municipal Engineering Construction Inspector certificate
- NJDEP Certified Stormwater Inspector certificate
Pay: $57,740.80 - $89,044.80 per year
