American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in a secure corrections-based oncology unit, requiring Epic EMR experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Hospital-based MS/Tele unit serving Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates in a locked, access-controlled corrections environment

Patient population includes active oncology diagnoses (solid tumors, hematology), oncology workup admissions, and non-oncology diagnoses such as COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, and surgical recovery

Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU assignments and 1:4-5 for MS assignments

Corrections Officers (COs) maintain a 1:2 CO-to-inmate ratio, providing a controlled security presence on the unit
-
Shifts may be assigned to either the MS or PCU side of the unit depending on scheduling needs
-
12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7p-7:30a); shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs

Weekend shift requirements vary based on unit needs

Floating to various Oncology Med/Surg units may be required

Documentation system: Epic (experience required)

Medication system: Pyxis

Active RN license in Ohio or a compact state currently in hand

Current BLS certification required

Epic EMR experience required
-
Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience required
-
Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
-
Experience with IV therapy skills including blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral IV insertion
-
Experience with respiratory support modalities including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, and ABG interpretation
-
Experience with Heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, PCA management, and cardiac drips (non-titrating)

Experience with feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis care, and renal failure management
-
2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Oncology experience is preferred but not required
-
Unit operates within a secure corrections facility; staff safety protocols are a key component of the role
-
Comprehensive support services are available on-site, including rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, social services, and interpretation services
-
Candidates changing representation do not need a 30-day break between assignments at this health system
