Summary
Oxford Area High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to lead our Boys Track and Field program. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing athletes' skills, promoting teamwork, and fostering a positive and competitive environment. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to guide student-athletes in their athletic and personal development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs that enhance athletes' performance and skill development.
- Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect among athletes.
- Monitor and assess athletes' progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Collaborate with the athletic department and other coaches to ensure alignment with school policies and objectives.
- Schedule and coordinate competitions, including meets and transportation logistics.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and athlete progress.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations set forth by the school, district, and governing athletic bodies.
- Promote the track and field program within the school and the wider community to encourage participation and support.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current with coaching techniques and best practices.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience in track and field or a related sport is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of track and field events, training techniques, and athlete development.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
- Must pass background checks as required by the school district.
- A bachelor's degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the track and field season.
