Job Overview
The Engineering Assistant supports the Chief Engineer with the daily organization and administration of the Engineering Department. This position focuses on maintaining accurate records, work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, inventory, vendor documentation, and departmental communication, while also assisting with general hotel maintenance as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain engineering records, maintenance logs, work orders, and preventative maintenance documentation
- Track completed and outstanding work orders and follow up as needed
- Assist with scheduling preventative maintenance, inspections, vendors, and service calls
- Maintain organized files for equipment, warranties, inspections, permits, and service records
- Assist with inventory tracking, purchase orders, invoices, quotes, and vendor paperwork
- Prepare basic reports, spreadsheets, and departmental documentation using Microsoft Office and Excel
- Respond to and document guest and departmental maintenance requests
- Assist with minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep throughout the hotel
- Communicate maintenance issues and updates to the Chief Engineer and other departments
- Follow all hotel safety procedures and assist with emergency maintenance needs as required
Qualifications
- 1 year of maintenance, engineering, or administrative experience preferred
- High school diploma or vocational training preferred
- Strong organizational, paperwork, and recordkeeping skills
- Microsoft Office and Excel proficiency required
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance preferred
- PM availability required
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform occasional maintenance tasks
- Must have access to a personal phone and internet for work-related communication
