Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Emergency Room (ER) and Triage to join our dynamic healthcare team. The RN ER / Triage will play a vital role in delivering timely, accurate assessments and ensuring optimal patient outcomes across diverse medical settings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments upon arrival, including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms, to determine acuity level and prioritize care delivery.
- Utilize advanced clinical judgment to identify urgent or emergent conditions requiring immediate intervention or escalation.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and wound care within scope of practice.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and post-discharge care plans.
- Maintain readiness for trauma situations by adhering to Level I or Level II trauma center standards and protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection control, pain management, and patient safety standards aligned with NCQA guidelines.
Skills
- Extensive experience working in emergency medicine environments with proficiency in trauma medicine, ICU experience, or Level I/II trauma center settings.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate documentation.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to emergency care.
- Skilled in performing physical examinations, laboratory specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, and diagnostic evaluation procedures.
- Competence in airway management techniques including ventilator operation and advanced life support certifications (BLS).
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations efficiently while demonstrating excellent communication skills and teamwork.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques critical for maintaining a sterile environment during procedures like suturing or sterile processing.
