We are now seeking an Experienced Excavator Operator with the skills, maturity, and experience to join our elite team.
Key Responsibilities
- Excavation & Equipment Operation:
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently for trenching, grading, digging, and backfilling across diverse project scopes (large municipal sites and smaller residential properties).
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Wastewater System Installations:
- Install and assist in the repair of septic and sewer systems in compliance with Nova Scotia Environment (NSE) standards and company protocols.
- Work collaboratively with Foremen and Project Managers to execute project plans accurately and on schedule.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
- Maintain any relevant NSE certifications or be willing to obtain them.
- Project Coordination & Communication:
- Collaborate with site supervisors, labourers, and other trades to ensure smooth project flow.
- Site independence is a must.
- Communicate effectively with team members to identify issues early, propose solutions, and minimize downtime.
- Quality Assurance:
- Uphold Sanitec’s reputation for exceptional workmanship; conduct quality checks on excavation depths, slope grades, and system installations.
- Troubleshoot on-site challenges proactively to maintain the highest standards of service.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience operating excavators in construction, wastewater, or related heavy civil industries.
- Demonstrated success handling both large-scale civic projects (municipal or commercial) and smaller residential projects.
- Certification (Preferred):
- NSE QP1/QP2/Installer certification is a strong asset, but not a requirement.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Any additional trade certifications are considered an asset.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting site plans, blueprints, and construction documents.
- Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
