Position Title: Food Service Manager - Part time (benefit eligible)
Statement of Duties
Under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director, this position requires manual and semi-skilled work related to food preparation and kitchen operations in the commercial kitchen of the Scituate Senior Center. This person would work directly with Senior Center Director and other staff to manage a food service program, including daily congregate lunches and a café concept, some group or program breakfasts, and refreshment accompaniment for specific programs.
Schedule anticipated for mornings 4 days/week for lunch prep, service and café operation along with monthly or occasional breakfast events and planning.
Essential Functions

Responsible for the daily operation of the Senior Center kitchen and food service program. Oversees standard kitchen activities and functions for the center, including but not limited to oversight of planning, ordering, delivery, inventory control, food storage and disposal, cleanliness, food safety and Serve Safe compliance, and nutrition.
Manages the food preparation, distribution, and quality control practices of the department to ensure optimum quality of product and compliance with health, safety and sanitation requirements and codes. Ensures proper sanitation practices in food preparation and cooking.
Plans menus and sets budgets for daily lunches, café and special events;
Prepares and serves lunches, occasional special event buffets or dinners with exceptional customer service;
Directs volunteers assisting in kitchen with food prep, meal and café service, and clean-up;
Prepares and manages refreshments and light lunch offerings for the Café daily;
Coordinates food purchases and pantry and supplies inventory;
Manages an attractive food service program(s) that draws older community members into a congregate, social setting along while considering nutritional and cost value for products offered;
Manages and maintains commercial kitchen equipment;
Trains or adapts staff and approved caterers using kitchen for ancillary functions.
Ensures adherence to quality, sanitation and safety standards;
Performs related duties as required or necessitated as situation dictates.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
3-5 years’ experience in cafeteria or kitchen work, experience with seniors, or any equivalent combination of secondary education, relevant training and experience.
Proven familiarity and ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment;
Licensing/Certification in ServSafe, Allergy Awareness and CPR;
Able to perform moderate physical activity;
Able to move/transport up to 50 lbs;
Able to perform oral and written communication;
Comfortable with use of computer for communication, ordering and budgeting;

Pay: $29.33 - $32.27 per hour
