About the Position:
Canature WaterGroup™ is looking for a driven, talented, and personable individual to join our Commercial division. Reporting to the Vice President of Commercial, the Director of Business Development is responsible for driving business growth by aligning strategic sales initiatives with effective marketing efforts to expand our market presence. This role focuses on identifying new market opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and leading high-performing teams to achieve revenue goals. By combining data-driven decision-making with creative brand positioning, the Director of Sales and Marketing develops, recommends and executes strategies that increase market share, strengthen customer loyalty, and support the organization's long-term success. They serve as a key link between customer needs and business objectives, ensuring that sales and marketing efforts work together to deliver measurable results. This position will have a technical sales background and experience with facilitating training and education for business partners. The Director of Business Development will also be required to travel 10-25% annually which includes the ability to travel within Canada and the United States.
This position is a combination of strategy and tactical hands-on responsibilities. This position will be expected to work alongside peers and direct reports on some day-to-day aspects while also developing and proposing business strategy. The Director of Business Development should have a continuous improvement mindset, recommending modernizations to established processes and procedures.
Business Development
- Sourcing, partnering, developing relationships and reporting on Mechanical Representative Agencies and their activities
- Responsible for the oversight of the onboarding of Mechanical Representation Agencies and ongoing assessments of territories sales performance
- Developing and recommending sales strategies for commercial equipment sales through other sales channels within the organization.
- Represent Canature WaterGroup at trade shows and industry events, showcasing our products and engaging market leaders.
Financial
- Developing and proposing annual business forecasts
- Collaborating with Corporate Marketing with respect to budgets and activities within the Commercial division
- Collaborating with Caproate marketing on trade show presentations
Attract, motivate, retain and lead a high performing team of employees.
- Participate in the recruiting process of new employees, including interviewing and extending offers of employment
- Coach and develop employees through one-on-one feedback and managing the onboarding and training programs
- Monitor and manage employee performance. Conduct performance reviews and employee performance management
- Monitor and manage attendance
- Reconcile and submit bi-weekly payroll and expense reports
- Monitor and communicate all Key Performance Indicators
- Assist employees with tasks as needed

About you:
- Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or another related field. A combination of education and experience will also be considered
- 5-7 years of previous and progressive experience leading teams
- 5-7 years experience in business development specifically focused on oversight of outside rep agencies
- Demonstrated technical sales ability
- Ability to travel locally as well as internationally (Canada / USA)
- Vaid driver’s license
- Proficient in the use of CRM software
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products
- Strong familiarity with Google sheets / Google docs
- Superior customer service skills
- Superior training, facilitation and presentation skills
- Proven ability to lead a team of direct reports both locally and remotely
- Familiarity with water conditioning equipment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

About the work environment:
- This position works in a standard office space within a warehouse environment. Can be subject to temperature fluctuations (heat/cold), noise and dust.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer work
- This position will require concentration and focus to ensure accuracy of information.
- Extra hours may be required from time to time to ensure deadlines are met.
- Able to travel for business upto 10%
