Overview:
We are seeking a Field Electrical Engineer with direct experience in industrial construction execution environments (oil & gas, EPC, or large-scale power infrastructure projects).
This is a hands-on field engineering role, supporting electrical installation oversight, system integration, and commissioning activities on an active construction site involving industrial power systems, switchgear, MCCs, generators, and temporary power infrastructure.
Candidates must have prior experience working in construction-phase environments, not just plant operations or maintenance settings.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the on-site electrical engineering representative during construction and commissioning
- Oversee electrical installation activities for compliance with IFC drawings, schematics, vendor documentation, and NEC standards
- Verify field installation of switchgear, MCCs, grounding systems, cable tray, and power distribution equipment
- Identify and resolve constructability issues before they impact schedule or quality
- Manage RFIs, field clarifications, redlines, and as-built documentation
- Support temporary power systems, on-site generation, and power-bridge integration
- Assist with energization planning, testing, and commissioning readiness
- Coordinate daily with contractors, vendors, inspectors, and project leadership
- Ensure safe execution of all electrical work in accordance with NEC and project requirements
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of hands-on field electrical construction experience in industrial or energy infrastructure projects
- Strong working knowledge and practical application of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Experience in environments such as:
- Oil & gas facilities
- Compressor stations or pipeline infrastructure
- Power generation or large EPC construction projects
- Heavy industrial electrical infrastructure builds
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Electrical installation oversight in active construction environments
- RFI management, redlines, punch lists, and turnover documentation
- Field troubleshooting and construction-phase issue resolution
- Coordination with contractors, vendors, and construction management teams
- Experience with power systems including MCCs, switchgear, generators, and temporary power systems
⚠This role is not suitable for candidates whose experience is limited to plant maintenance, controls engineering, or shop-based electrical work without construction-phase field engineering responsibility.
Preferred Experience:
- Compressor station or similar large-scale energy infrastructure projects
- Experience supporting temporary power / power-bridge systems and generator tie-ins
- Commissioning or energization support experience in industrial environments
- Prior experience as an owner’s representative or field electrical engineer on EPC projects
- Exposure to late-stage construction execution, punch list closure, and turnover processes
Why This Role:
- High-impact field engineering role on a major industrial energy project
- Contract position with competitive hourly rate ($65/hr)
- Direct exposure to critical infrastructure electrical systems
- Hands-on execution role with real-time engineering decision-making
Work Conditions:
- Full-time on-site field assignment
- Active industrial construction environment
- Coordination across multiple contractors and disciplines
Pay: $65.00 per hour
Application Question(s):
- Please describe a recent industrial or energy infrastructure project where you served in a field electrical engineering or electrical construction support role. In your response, include specific examples of your involvement with electrical installation oversight, NEC compliance, RFI and field issue resolution, temporary or on-site power systems, coordination with contractors and vendors, and support for commissioning or turnover activities.
- Please briefly describe your primary experience as it relates to this role (field electrical engineering on industrial/EPC construction projects, electrical maintenance/plant operations, controls engineering, or other).
- What is your target hourly rate for this contract role? The position is budgeted at $65/hr.
