Job Description for Route Supervisor
Under the direct supervision of the Operations Managers the Wausau UMS facility, this position provides department personnel supervision and production support for UMS Wausau route department. In addition to routes, vehicles, production monitoring and employee supervision, performs duties such as covering for absent route drivers, training, monitoring employee hours and working on maintaining and improving the department’s functionality. Also, answers routine and non-routine questions and concerns from employees as well as clients pertaining to routes and pickups. Deals with all groups of internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload, recommends changes to route, staffing and production related activities. The Route Supervisor of Wausau will be available all hours that vehicles are running, which is mainly (but not limited to) 11am to 7pm.

♦ Routes and Vehicles:
♦ Knowledge and acknowledgement of UMS driver safety policies and procedures
♦ Schedule vehicles for maintenance and/or repair
♦ Monitor vehicles for safety
♦ Maintain logs of all vehicle repairs and applicable route information
♦ Oversee vehicle fueling and maintaining accurate records
♦ Production:
♦ Ability to follow manager’s directions to accomplish the ultimate goal of each work day.
♦ This goal is to service our customers accurately and efficiently by getting the mail processed and to the USPS in a timely manner.
♦ Develop new and efficient procedures and polices within the Route Department including restructuring routes as necessary
♦ Customer Mail Returns
♦ Assign “return mail” or boxes of product to drivers to deliver to customers daily
♦ Track missing or lost shipments
♦ Work effectively with Operations Manager to resolve any issues
♦ Adhere to Security and Safety Policies to ensure parking lot and walkways are maintained
♦ Monitor daily all areas where drivers and vehicles have access to for any hazards
♦ Keep snow cleared on sidewalk, in front of doors to the building, and around vehicles
♦ Salt/Sand when necessary
♦ Coordinate vehicle rotation on snow days
♦ Troubleshooting
♦ Ability to follow directions and accommodate UMS supervisor’s instructions.
♦ This may require the UMS Wausau Route Supervisor (employee) to productively function in a team setting as well as alone.
♦ Escalate problems to the Operations Manager as necessary
♦ Ability to multitask
♦ Ability to work independently and adapt if normal daily routine of production is disrupted
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
