Title: Instrument Technician
General Summary of Duties: Contributes to the company’s mission, vision and values by providing the sterilization practices to the facility.
Supervisor: Administrator and/or Director of Nursing
Classification: Non-Exempt
The Instrument Technician possesses specialized knowledge in sterilization practices. Incumbent demonstrates competent and skilled performance in the reprocessing of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Incumbent will maintain necessary quality control monitoring systems to verify sterility is achieved.

- Possesses specialized knowledge, skills and abilities required for the decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation & equipment.

- Demonstrates knowledge, ability and commitment to concurrently conducting quality control checks required for verification of sterilization measures met.
- Possesses knowledge of instrument vocabulary, recognition and intended use, with ability to assemble instrument sets consistently.
- Demonstrates knowledge in the ability to plan, prepare, multi-task and assemble the required supplies to efficiently manage the reprocessing of instrumentation in accordance with case mix and case load.
- Possesses skills and knowledge in the proper handling of sterile surgical instruments after sterilization process is complete.
- Possesses skills and knowledge in the proper handling of contaminated articles used during surgery/procedures, to mitigate occupational exposure to self and others.

- Retains advanced aptitude for technical knowledge and the functional use of equipment, instruments and quality control supplies.
- Possesses exceptional organizational skills in preparing instrument sets for assembly, by consistently preparing sets to look the same every time.
- Possesses the ability to conduct research on instrumentation and make recommendation for purchase of new or replacements to management.
- Demonstrates abilities to use instrument tracking system for record keeping of autoclave loads, and inventory management.
- Demonstrates vigilance to the record keeping of quality controls required for equipment monitoring.
- Consistently applies hand hygiene practices and other aseptic techniques before, during and after administering direct patient care.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.76 - $32.00 per hour
