Position Summary:This position provides clinical support to healthcare providers The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, and ensuring a welcoming experience for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Support
- Greet patients, verify identity, and prepare them for examinations.
- Record patient histories, vital signs, and intake information accurately in the EHR.
- Assist physicians during exams and minor procedures (e.g., wound dressings, EKGs).
- Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed.
- Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens (blood, urine, swabs).
- Sterilize instruments and maintain exam room cleanliness and supply levels.
- Coordinate with billing/coding staff to ensure accurate charge capture.
- Adhere to OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA guidelines for infection control, patient privacy, and workplace safety.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality‐improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA) preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Prognosis, Epic,) and scheduling software preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Basic clinical skills: medical terminology, EKG, administration of injections.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
