One of our Spherion clients is seeking an experienced and proactive Temporary Facilities Manager / Coordinator to oversee day-to-day operations across our multi-use 10,000+ sq. ft. warehouse facility, for a non-profit company in Ballard, Seattle. Unlike a standard food bank, the site manages a broad scope of operations, including large-scale food storage, housing supplies, and extensive cold storage systems.
This is initially a 3-month contract assessment with the potential for long-term conversion.
This role requires a hands-on generalist who can perform practical, minor maintenance while efficiently directing external specialized contractors to keep critical building systems fully operational.
- Location: On-site (Ballard – Seattle, WA)
- Pay Rate: $38.00 – $42.00 / hour
Responsibilities:
- Refrigeration & Building Systems Management: Serve as primary internal oversight for critical facility infrastructure, including industrial cold storage/refrigeration units, commercial HVAC systems, and building security systems. Monitor performance, perform routine checks, respond promptly to alerts, and coordinate specialized maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Hands-On General Repairs & Maintenance: Perform immediate, minor hands-on repairs to ensure daily facility safety and usability (e.g., fixing door hardware, securing lockers, repairing cabinets, basic carpentry/assembly). Address facility tickets and maintain smooth operations across work areas, storage zones, and common spaces.
- Vendor & Contractor Supervision: Manage and schedule external technical vendors, specialized trades, and service providers (HVAC technicians, refrigeration specialists, landscaping crews, fire safety contractors). Escort and supervise on-site contractors, verify completed work, and ensure vendor adherence to safety and facility protocols.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience monitoring or working alongside contractors for commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- Background working in non-profit, high-volume community resource, or warehouse operations.
Required Skills:
- Facility Experience: Proven practical experience in commercial, light industrial, or warehouse facility maintenance.
- Technical & Handyman Skills: Demonstrated ability to execute basic handyman repairs independently while recognizing when to escalate complex issues to specialized technical vendors.
- Self-Starter & Prioritization: Ability to prioritize incoming maintenance tasks independently in a fast-paced environment supporting essential community operations.
- Availability: Immediate availability for temporary placement.
