The Urgent and Special Care Clinic at Marquette University School of Dentistry is seeking a part-time dentist to provide high-quality clinical care, teaching, and supervision for predoctoral and postgraduate students. The role focuses on the management and care of the geriatric population and adults with special needs, including urgent dental care and emergency cases. This position involves a combination of patient care, student supervision, and limited didactic teaching.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care to patients with special needs and geriatric considerations.
- Supervise and mentor predoctoral and postgraduate students during clinical sessions.
- Manage dental emergencies and urgent care needs for patients.
- Assess student clinical performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Participate in limited didactic teaching, including lectures, seminars, or case discussions as needed.
- Support clinic administration as it relates to patient care, scheduling, and documentation.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to clinic protocols.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- DMD/DDS degree from a US or Canadian dental school accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, or a comparable foreign degree.
- Valid dental license in at least one US state and eligibility for a regular license in Wisconsin.
- Demonstrated experience in treating geriatric and/or special needs adult patients.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Prior teaching or clinical supervision experience preferred.
- Completion of a postgraduate general dentistry training program (AEGD or GPR) preferred.
