We are a privately owned emergency veterinary hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care for small animals and exotic species, including birds, reptiles, and small mammals. We are currently seeking a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our emergency team. In this role, you'll be on the front lines of emergency and critical care, helping stabilize, treat, and advocate for patients when they need it most. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with emergency examinations, diagnostics, surgeries, and life-saving procedures.
- Perform technical skills including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, intubation, medication administration, and wound management.
- Monitor hospitalized and critical patients, including anesthesia and vital signs.
- Provide safe, low-stress restraint and handling for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and small mammals.
- Prepare patients for radiographs, laboratory testing, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Collect, process, and analyze laboratory samples to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique during surgical and invasive procedures.
- Perform nursing care and husbandry for hospitalized patients, including feeding, cleaning, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Accurately document treatments, observations, and medical records.
- Communicate with pet owners in a compassionate, professional manner, providing updates and discharge instructions.
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians and support staff to provide outstanding patient care.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license preferred.
- Candidates with a minimum of three years of veterinary assistant experience and strong emergency or critical care skills will also be considered.
- Experience with emergency medicine, anesthesia, laboratory diagnostics, radiology, and critical patient monitoring is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and nursing care.
- Confidence performing technical skills such as catheter placement, patient restraint, and emergency procedures.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and detail-oriented in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused attitude.
- Experience working with exotic species is a plus, but not required.
- We are open 6pm-8am during the week and 24hours weekend and holidays, so willingness to work nights and weekends is required
