About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Pre-Press Technician to prepare customer files for digital and offset production. You'll be the last set of eyes before a job hits the press, so accuracy and good judgment are everything. We're looking for someone that has flexible hours and open to building a schedule that works for you, as long as it keeps jobs moving through the shop on time.
What You'll Do
- Preflight customer-supplied files for print readiness (bleeds, resolution, color mode, fonts, trim, folds, dielines)
- Impose jobs for digital and offset presses
- Create proofs and communicate file issues clearly to the CSR/account team for customer follow-up
- Make file corrections and adjustments in Adobe Creative Suite and Acrobat
- Manage color, spot colors, and PDF/X workflows
- Set up variable data and specialty jobs (die cuts, packaging, booklets) as needed
- Keep job files, templates, and prepress documentation organized
- Work closely with press operators, bindery, and customer service to hit deadlines
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of prepress experience in a commercial print environment
- Strong skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat
- Experience with preflight and imposition software (such as Enfocus PitStop, [your RIP/workflow, e.g. Fiery, Prinergy, etc.])
- Solid understanding of print production: bleeds, trapping, overprint, pagination, paper and finishing considerations
- Sharp eye for detail and comfortable catching problems before they become reprints
- Clear communicator who can explain file issues in plain language
- Able to juggle multiple jobs and shifting priorities
- Bonus: experience with packaging, dielines, or variable data printing
Schedule
Hours vary with production volume. Typical range, e.g. 15 to 25 hours per week, mostly weekdays. Candidates must be able to shift start times and pick up additional hours during busy periods.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
