Lead Piping / Civil / Mechanical / Structural Designer

Contech Control Services seek team-oriented professionals who have expert knowledge of Piping, Mechanical, Civil & Structural Design related to green field and brown field projects in the Oil & Gas, Chemical, and Power Industries.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead Designer performs a wide range of duties which include some or all the following:
- Piping, Mechanical, Civil & Structural Design Lead for the delivery of large complex multi discipline projects. This includes new installations and modifications to existing facilities.
- Lead a team of designers during site surveys gathering information, reconcile, and organize data for development of estimates.
- Review Engineering Scope of Work, Construction Scope of Work, Specifications, and other documents from EPC / end users and assist in development of estimates.
- Develop or modify engineering and design drawings and documents pertaining to Piping, Mechanical, Civil & Structural discipline for a given project.
- Develop fabrication drawings, Bill of Materials, ISOs, 3D Models, etc. for scope of the project.
- Develop Engineering Scope of Work, Construction Scope of Work, Specifications, and any other documents required for development of construction estimates.
- Responsible for meeting all Client’s drawing and document control requirements.
- Maintain and Report to the Project Manager the following: project schedule, weekly progress reports, utilize rules of credit, etc.
- Coordinate work and execution with other project disciplines and teams – engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, vendors, and sub-contractors etc.,
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
The Lead Designer requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Associate’s degree in computer Drafting and Design or Engineering Technology. Equivalent experience will be considered
- Minimum of 15 years of Piping, Mechanical, Civil & Structural design experience directly related to the Primary Duties and Responsibilities noted above.
- Extensive experience with design associated Piping, Mechanical, Civil & Structural disciplines with exposure to Electrical and Control Systems (MCC, PDC, DCS, SIS, PLC, etc.)
- Knowledge of Fabrication of Modular Buildings like RIE, Analyzer House, PDC, MCC etc.
- Provides technical expertise on subject matter pertaining to Piping, Mechanical, Civil & Structural engineering and design including layout component selection/application, material and stress analysis.
- Support development of estimates for Piping, Mechanical, Civil & Structural portion of a tender which includes scope of work, Specifications, data sheets and other engineering & Design documents for new projects.
- Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, material selection, and installation guidelines, etc.,
- Conduct drawings / document reviews & analysis and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Participate in Layout, Design, 3D Model, HAZAP, HAZID reviews and value engineering & constructability reviews.
- Oversee the fabrication and installation ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of piping systems.
- Working knowledge of the industry standards is required - American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Petroleum Institute (API), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) etc.,
- Working knowledge of various applications is a plus – SPI, Revit, Navisworks etc.,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in AutoCad and/or Microstation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
- Familiar with document Management software or equivalent
Working conditions are as follows:
- Position Type: Full Time
- Standard Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30pm
- Overtime: Occasionally
- Travel: Minimal (up to 25%)
Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour
