Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and oral health evaluations.
- Perform dental cleanings and apply preventive materials such as sealants and fluoride.
- Take and develop medical imaging as needed for diagnostic purposes.
- Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and the importance of regular dental visits.
- Monitor vital signs as part of patient assessments during appointments.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and medical records management.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software such as Dentrix is preferred.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry and chairside assisting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with medical coding and documentation review processes.
- Ability to provide compassionate patient care while addressing individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
