The Multi-Specialty Patient Account Representative is responsible for the follow-up on all outstanding insurance claims, correspondence, and assists with billing questions to our patients.
Job Duties:
- Timely follow up on insurance claim denials, rejections, or pending claims
- Maintaining and responding to individual payer correspondence
- Responsible for responding to payer requests related to claim resolution
- Verification of patient eligibility and benefits related to claim resolution
- Creation and submission of reconsiderations or appeals
- Tracking and documentation of denial trends and proactive communication to the practice(s)
- Other duties as assigned by management
Position Requirements:
- High School or Equivalent
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in medical billing , preferable OBGYN experience
- Minimum 3 years medical office experience preferred, preferable an OBGYN office setting
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of medical billing and coding practices
- Familiarity of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
- Strong Insurance knowledge including understanding EOBs and payer policies
- Ability to work with EMR systems
- Must demonstrate strong analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft office products
- Maintains effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment
- Ability to work independently without close supervision and meet deadlines
- Ability to exercise judgement and make decisions
- Ability to perform in a high productivity, fast-paced environment
- Interpersonal skills and conflict resolution
- Attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and ability to prioritize responsibilities
- Ability to maintain sensitive information in confidence
- Strong ability to uphold organizational values, work with integrity and ethically, inspire the trust of others, and treat people with respect
- Strong HIPAA and OSHA knowledge
