About Ultrasound AI
Ultrasound AI is a women's health AI company. Our flagship product, Delivery Date AI™, received FDA De Novo clearance in February 2026 — one of the first AI systems of its kind cleared for obstetric ultrasound. We hold granted patents in the US and internationally, and we're raising a Series A to scale. We're a small team where your work is visible to the CEO, the board, and investors — literally: the books you keep will go in front of them.
The role
We're hiring a Controller to own our accounting function in-house. Today it's handled by an outsourced firm; you'll take it over, run it, and help make it Series A diligence-ready. This is a genuine ownership role: you are the finance function, reporting directly to leadership.
You don't need to have held the Controller title before. If you're a strong senior accountant ready for your first controller seat, we'll train you on the startup-specific parts — SAFEs and cap table mechanics, investor diligence, medical-device revenue. What we can't train is accounting fundamentals, ownership, and attention to detail.
What you'll own (core, ~70%)
- Full month-end close: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, financial statements
- QuickBooks — the system of record is yours
- Accounts payable end-to-end: vendor setup, bill intake, coding, approvals, bill pay
- Bank, credit card, and payroll reconciliations
- Transition of the accounting function from our outsourced firm, including documenting processes as you take them over
- Financial controls and process improvement as we scale
- Coordination with our tax preparers, auditors, and insurance broker
Where you'll grow (fundraising & investor operations, ~30%)
- Support the Series A: keep the financial sections of our investor data room current and consistent
- Cap table hygiene and equity administration support (Carta)
- Investor reporting: help build the monthly/quarterly reporting package
- Budgeting and runway modeling inputs for leadership
- Exposure to venture financing mechanics most accountants never see — SAFEs, convertible notes, 409A valuations, diligence
There is no CFO here. For the right person, this role is the ground floor of the finance leadership track at a funded, FDA-cleared company.
You'll thrive here if you
- Have strong GAAP fundamentals and have owned (or heavily driven) a month-end close
- Treat accuracy as non-negotiable — investors and auditors will read your work
- Take ownership without waiting to be told
- Are curious about the business beyond the ledger and want a seat at the table
- Communicate clearly with non-finance people
Requirements
- 3+ years of accounting experience, including close responsibilities
- Strong QuickBooks experience (you've owned it, not just touched it)
- Strong Excel/Sheets skills
- Able to work in person in Greenwood Village, CO
Nice to have (we'll train the rest): CPA or CPA-track, startup or small-company experience, exposure to fundraising or M&A diligence, payroll administration, Carta.
Compensation & benefits
- $30.00–$50.00/hour, depending on experience (contract-to-hire; conversion to full-time salaried with equity)
