Job Summary
As we prepare to open our brand-new fireplace and hearth retail showroom, Ohio Chimney Co. is looking to add a few motivated, customer-focused team members to our sales staff! We've been a family-owned business since 1981, and the current owner is a third-generation mason and certified chimney sweep. We are excited to be expanding our services with a dedicated retail space where customers can explore fireplaces, stoves, inserts, and hearth accessories in person.
We are looking for friendly, professional individuals who enjoy working with people and helping customers find the best solution for their home. The successful candidate will be responsible for greeting customers, learning about their needs, making product recommendations, and guiding them through the sales process from initial consultation to completed order. This position also may include completing in-home sales appointments, scheduling technician visits, maintaining the showroom, and assisting with day-to-day operations.
The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and strong attention to detail. The candidate must be receptive to constructive feedback and be coachable, as this industry is highly specialized and requires learning specific terminology, products, and installation requirements. Above all, you must have a great work ethic, enjoy helping people, and have a good sense of humor. We love creating a fun work environment while providing exceptional customer service.
Potential Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist customers visiting our retail showroom
- Ask thoughtful questions to understand customer needs and recommend the best fireplace, stove, insert, or hearth products
- Schedule in-home appointments for technicians and estimators
- Conduct in-home sales consultations and assist customers through the purchasing process
- Prepare accurate sales orders and collect customer payments
- Answer phone calls, emails, and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain product displays, restock inventory, and keep the showroom clean and organized
- Learn our product lines, installation process, and industry terminology
- Work closely with technicians, installers, and office staff to provide an outstanding customer experience
- Willingness to wear many hats and learn more about this specialized industry
- Any other duties as assigned by management
Experience
- Retail sales
- Customer service
- Inside or outside sales
- Home improvement or building materials
- Fireplace, hearth, chimney, HVAC, or related industry experience
- Interior design or home furnishings
- Cash handling and point-of-sale systems
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in team settings
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License (required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable learning technical products and educating customers
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work a full-time schedule, including weekends
- Self-motivated with a positive, team-oriented attitude
