JOB SUMMARY:
To prepare detailed engineering designs of high voltage (transmission 46KV - 230 kV) power line projects using the clients’ computer applications. Projects may include major additions, replacements, clearance verification, and reconductoring of overhead electric transmission facilities. An intense training program will be available for the qualified candidate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Investigates, reviews, and analyzes overhead power transmission systems and components in order to design system improvements
Performs tasks and produces engineering calculations, documents, and designs for conceptual and detailed phases of engineering under the direction of the project lead or responsible engineer
Plans material needs based on a project’s scope and create construction prints
Assesses/identifies load and project requirements (Permits, Easements, Tree Work, Aesthetics, etc.)
Collaborates with other departments, plan, schedule, conduct and/or coordinate detailed phases of engineering
Conducts field visits to collect data as necessary
Manages project e-files for many projects within the departments
Participates in training sessions both on-site and in the field
Works with client and/or construction contractors to develop best design • Proofs in-house engineering projects – Attention to detail required
Complies with project requirements to support the collection and storage of electronic project files within the department
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Attends work as scheduled, for up to 8 hours at a time, 5 days a week, in a remote location within the United States.
Prompt and regular attendance at all work related meeting (virtual or in-person)
Ability to work shifts beginning as an assigned, designated start time until an assigned, designated end time
Ability to complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner and as specified
Ability to interact with employees and customers/clients in an appropriate manner
Exhibits and maintains the highest degree of professionalism in the performance of all related duties
Ability to receive and understand directions from supervision and management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Technician – graduated with an accredited two (2) year technical degree and/or two (2) years of relevant experience
Entry-level Engineer – graduated with an accredited four (4) year degree in an engineering discipline
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a musts
Ability to apply client specifications and preferences to all designs
Ability to learn and use computer-assisted tools
Effective time management and logical decision-making ability
Strong focus on quality
Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Utility and/or consulting engineering firm experience is a plus
Experience in utility based design, construction and/or operation is a plus
High attention to detail is required
Ability to work independently as well as a strong team player
Ability to internalize a “safety first” attitude to all aspects in the performance of work responsibilities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct reports.
TRAVEL:
This position requires minimal travel.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment requiring routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, electronic devices such as tablets, printers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets as well as use of standard office applications such as MS Office (including extensive use of video communication and collaboration platform), and internet based filing system.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to clearly communicate, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently requested to sit, stand and walk including walking unassisted for a minimum of 500 meters to perform field visits/field assignments. The employee is required to drive and/or fly (commercial airlines) to existing and/or potential clients locations, conventions, meetings, etc. Manual dexterity is required. Some light physical effort required.
