Job Requirements
- 1 year of recent driving experience No Exceptions
- No more than 3 moving violations in the previous 3 years
- Not cited for a D.O.T defined accident in the previous 3 years
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and specialized vehicles for delivery across regional routes.
- Plan and execute efficient over-the-road (OTR) driving routes using GPS navigation to meet delivery schedules.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques or forklift operation when necessary, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations and maintain vehicle safety standards.
- Load & unload cargo accurately, managing logistics cargo handling procedures for freight including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, or tanker shipments.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and inspection reports in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to confirm delivery schedules and address route adjustments promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols related to truck loading/unloading, manual transmission operation, and hazardous materials handling.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving within regional territories.
- Hands-on experience operating various types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailer operations and automobile transportation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations regarding hours of service, vehicle safety standards, and hazardous materials regulations.
- Delivery driver experience involving load & unload procedures using forklift or manual handling techniques.
- Ability to navigate using GPS systems efficiently while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations for safe driving practices.
- Certification or experience in handling dangerous goods or hazardous materials is a plus.
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling processes involving freight transportation.
