Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide direct supervision and leadership of technology staff supporting infrastructure and service operations, ensuring strong team performance, accountability, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement. The Director leads and actively participates in day-to-day operations and the execution of technology initiatives aligned with the institutional strategic plan.
The Director builds strong relationships with faculty and staff, leading collaborative conversations to assess technology needs and guide the selection and use of tools that enhance teaching, learning, and lab-based environments. The role ensures technology services and infrastructure are delivered securely, reliably, and with a strong customer service focus through hands-on leadership and operational discipline.
This position supports departmental planning, budgeting, and resource alignment and requires broad knowledge across technology domains to effectively lead work across infrastructure, service, and security functions by leveraging team expertise and available resources.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in information technology operations, infrastructure and/or end-user support services within the past five (5) years.

Including two (2) years of progressive staff supervision experience, including, supervision of various level of IT staff, hiring, coaching, performance management, and accountability for staff performance and outcomes within the last five (5) years.

Experience leading or contributing to day-to-day IT operations, including troubleshooting, incident response, and service delivery.
-
Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, including risk mitigation and exposure to security frameworks within the last five (5) years.

Experience supporting the development and management of budgets, including technology purchasing and resource allocation.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple operational responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
Strong customer service orientation and ability to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders.

- A Master’s degree in Information Technology or related field substitutes for 18 months of experience; a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field substitutes for 12 months; an associate’s degree Information Technology or related field substitutes for 6 months.
Preferred Qualification

Master’s degree in Information Technology, computer science, educational technology or related field.

Experience in a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead across multiple technology domains by leveraging team expertise while maintaining accountability for outcomes.

Experience leading teams that support both infrastructure and service desk/end-user support functions within the last five (5) years.

Experience with NIST cybersecurity assessments, audits, or framework implementation within the last five (5) years.

Demonstrated success developing and improving operational processes, service standards, and performance metrics.

Experience implementing or improving IT service management practices.
Experience partnering with faculty or instructional staff to support technology use in classroom or lab-based learning environments.
