Overview
The Cashier is responsible for delivering Best of the WEST customer service by creating a welcoming shopping experience for every customer. They greet customers, process transactions accurately, answer questions, and assist with finding solutions to meet customer needs. Cashiers help maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store while supporting daily store operations and following company policies and procedures. They contribute to a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment that supports overall store success.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and support the company’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Deliver Best of the WEST customer service by greeting every customer, engaging with them throughout their shopping experience, and thanking them for their business.
- Accurately and efficiently process customer purchases, returns, exchanges, and other Point of Sale transactions.
- Ensure merchandise accuracy by verifying items, checking for boot mis-mates, and following commission validation procedures.
- Promote company programs, store promotions, and suggest complementary merchandise to enhance the customer experience.
- Provide accurate and courteous responses to customer inquiries in person and over the phone regarding products, pricing, promotions, store locations, and inventory.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor by stocking merchandise, recovering displays, and completing housekeeping tasks, including dusting, mopping, and vacuuming.
- Ensure merchandise is properly displayed, signed, stocked, and located according to company standards.
- Remain attentive to store safety and security and promptly report concerns to store management.
- Report to work on time and maintain a neat, professional appearance.
- Understand and follow all company policies and procedures.
- Assist with merchandising updates, price changes, special orders, and other assigned store tasks.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Ability to accurately operate a Point of Sale system and handle cash and electronic transactions.
- Ability to regularly lift, move, and position merchandise throughout the work shift.
- Ability to safely use store equipment, including handheld devices, step stools, and dollies, in accordance with company policies. Certain equipment may only be operated by associates who meet applicable age requirements.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of the business.
- Ability to comprehend basic instructions, interpret documents, and apply them to daily tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Associate must be able to read and understand English.
- Associate must be able to stay alert and productive during assigned work hours.
