Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team. Weekly Gross Pay: $1,826.00
Weekly Taxable Pay: $600.00
Non-taxable Week: $1226.00
Minimum 2 Years' experience of being a Medical Lab Technician
Genie Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced Medical Lab Technician to fill an opening located in Hastings, NE for $45.65/hr. (Taxed + nontaxed)
Requirements of the Medical Lab Technician:
● Must have AHA BLS.
● Must have MLT certification from ASCP
● Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Medical Lab Technician

Responsibilities of Medical Lab Technician:
- Shift: 8- hours Evenings
- Shift details: 2.00 PM to 10.00 PM
- 40 hours/week. (5*8)
- 13-week contract
- Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens using established laboratory techniques and aseptic procedures.
- Perform venipuncture and blood sampling with proficiency, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of test results through diligent data entry into electronic medical records (EMR) or electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Prepare specimens for testing, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and storage in accordance with safety protocols.
- Conduct routine laboratory tests related to hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and other specialties as required.
- Assist with patient service activities such as vital signs measurement and basic patient care when necessary.
- Follow strict safety guidelines including basic life support (BLS) and CPR procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide timely diagnostic information that supports clinical decision-making.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace, adhering to infection control standards.
- Handle heavy lifting of supplies or specimens when required while maintaining proper ergonomics.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical laboratory work or clinical laboratory settings with familiarity in laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Certification or training in phlebotomy, venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen collection is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to laboratory testing.
- Prior hospital experience preferred, especially within pediatrics or geriatrics populations.
- Proficiency in operating EMR/EHR systems for data entry and test documentation.
- Strong understanding of specimen handling protocols including aseptic technique and microbiological safety measures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently within a healthcare environment.
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach toward patients of all ages.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire is required.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure are essential.
