Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and proactive Emergency Services Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this in-person role, you will use your knowledge and experience to coordinate and deliver personalized support to clients facing barriers to independent living and self-sufficiency. Your reassuring and enthusiastic approach will help eligible at-risk and low-income residents by providing available emergency assistance from various community utilities and agencies aimed at eliminating barriers to independent living. You will engage in outreach to educate the community on services available and establish partnerships with new service providers.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide services and assistance to eligible clients with verified household emergency needs.
· Facilitate wrap-around services provided by the agency with regular follow-up.
· Build and maintain collaborative relationships with area service providers.
· Make external referrals and follow up to assess if the need was met.
· Assist and advocate for support services from area service providers.
· Make presentations on agency programs to area service providers.
· Collaborate daily with Case Manager.
· Prepare and submit reports related to work activities; make recommendations and implement continuous improvement ideas to improve both services and the impact of CAC’s programs.
· Maintain current and accurate data, files and records (hardcopy and electronic as required) of daily activities and client intervention.
· Participate in agency functions as required by the role or as requested by the agency; serve as an ambassador for CAC in both private interactions and public events.
Qualification requirements
· Passion for serving others and making a difference in the community
· Ability to use good judgment and maintain strict confidentiality of information regarding clients and staff.
· Ability to work well with individuals from diverse social, economic, racial, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
· Be self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage a caseload, prioritize and multi-task duties.
· Clear and adaptable communication skills, with the ability to present/speak effectively with both individuals and public groups to increase engagement and outreach
· Perform all duties in a professional, respectful and empathetic manner.
· Must have effective and accurate computer/data entry skills
· Must be able to pass physical/drug and TB screenings as mandated by the agency.
Education and/or Experience
· Associates degree in Human Services or related field or commensurate experience
· Two years of non-profit human services work (preferred)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
· Must have reliable, insured transportation and a valid Michigan Driver License
Pay: $18.00 per hour
