Job Summary
Prairie Creek Grain Company is a grain facility that supports the local farming community and customers worldwide. We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to become part of our team. The outside grain operator is responsible for performing tasks involving receiving, transferring and shipping of grain, and general maintenance of the facility.
Position available in Chebanse, IL
Responsibilities and Duties:
- To work safely within company policy and procedures.
- Assist in unloading, loading and transferring of grain and grain products.
- Perform duties that include cleaning, scooping and sweeping in confined spaces of grain bins.
- Must be comfortable climbing ladders and working at elevated heights.
- Understand the proper operation of equipment used in the shipping, receiving and transferring of grain and grain products.
- Monitor equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
- Be an involved/engaged member of a team and be willing to act and think independently.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This job operates in an outdoor environment year round. There is exposure to grain dust, weather elements, heavy truck and machinery activity.
Position: Full Time Position in Chebanse, IL
Hours: Monday-Friday: 7am - 4pm
During harvest (Sept-Nov) hours may be extended 7am-7pm and weekends.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, preferred
- Valid and current driver's license
- Previous work experience at a grain elevator, preferred
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening is required
- Ability to lift 75 lbs
- Able to climb ladders
- Must be comfortable working at elevated heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to work extended hours when needed.
