Overview
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our team. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating production activities for our precision CNC toolholder manufacturing operation. The Production Planner ensures work orders are created, prioritized, and distributed efficiently while maintaining accurate production schedules to meet customer delivery commitments.
This position serves as a key communication link between Production, Customer Service, Purchasing, Engineering, and Management to ensure products are manufactured and delivered on time.
Duties
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Create and release production work orders.
- Establish production priorities based on customer demand, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and staffing.
- Distribute work orders and production packets to the appropriate departments with required completion dates.
- Assist the Production Manager in adjusting production schedules to meet changing priorities and customer requirements.
Work-in-Process Monitoring
- Monitor daily production progress and track work-in-process (WIP).
- Communicate regularly with machinists and production personnel regarding job status.
- Identify production delays or bottlenecks and communicate issues to management.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering regarding process changes affecting production.
- Prepare reports on active work order status and production progress.
- Provide Customer Service with accurate delivery updates and document delivery issues within the ERP system.
ERP System Management
- Maintain accurate production information within the ERP system.
- Enter labor reporting against work-in-process.
- Develop and maintain product work instructions within the ERP system.
- Update process revisions and product documentation as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or a related field preferred. Associate degree with equivalent manufacturing experience may also be considered.
- Proven experience in supply chain management, production planning, or manufacturing roles.
- Technical proficiency with ERP systems with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) is essential.
- Strong understanding of demand planning, forecasting techniques, and inventory control strategies.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate across departments and ensure alignment on production goals.
