Responsibilities:
- Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures.
- Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
- Preparing and/or analyzing environmental samples based on published methods and Seeml Standard Operating Procedures.
- Following quality control procedures as outlined in documented procedures.
- Preparing standards and reagents
- Documenting all lab activities in applicable logbooks and databases (e.g. sample prep, sample analysis, standard and reagent prep, instrument maintenance, etc.)
- Entering data into Seeml Laboratory Information Management System as applicable
- Performing routine maintenance of equipment and instrumentation
- Responsible for keeping applicable workspaces clean and safe
- Disposing of samples and by-products per required procedures
- Handling of waste products per required procedures
- Reviewing data from other analysts, if applicable
- Attending required company and department meetings
- Completing required training activities within require timeframes
- Promoting cooperation and teamwork among staff
- Following Seeml policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Other duties as assigned by management . Cross training in other departments.
Requirements:
Experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
Minimum requirement HS Diploma or Equivalent.
Three years of laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting.
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry background is a plus but
not required. Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petro-graphic microscope training a plus.
One to two years of asbestos PLM/PCM experience preferred but not required - will train.
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.
Available Shift:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., extra hours and/or weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
