Its dedication to employee well-being, diversity, and community impact makes HCPL more than just a workplace—it’s where individuals can grow, inspire, and contribute to meaningful change.What you will do at Harris County Public Library: The Accounting Assistant II is responsible for a variety of administrative, logistical, and accounting documents, such as invoices, departmental billings, employee reimbursements, and vendor statements; reviewing and coding financial information; compiling and reviewing information for accuracy; and maintaining records and other administrative duties needed to support the Financial Services department.Duties & Responsibilities: Codes invoices; processes blanket requisitions and purchase orders;Prepares invoices for payment with proper account number; ensures all invoices are paidtimelyProcesses employee reimbursement requests for travelCorresponds with departments and branch libraries regarding their invoicesCalculate rates paid for purchases and all price extensionsPrepares purchases and keeps the accounts balanced in the general ledgerSubmits orders to vendorsReceives ordered supplies from delivery persons by inspecting packages and signing delivery receiptsVerifies items billed against items ordered and received, and reconciles problems concerning orders and discrepancies through follow-up with the vendor and other departmentsSorts, organizes, and unpacks shipments, matching shipments to packing slips and order recordsSends materials to departments and branch libraries according to location codesDevelops and maintains a variety of spreadsheets.Contact departments and branch libraries of origin to resolve documentation problemsAssists in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, collecting and verifying financial data required to prepare income and expenditure statements and other financial reportsReceives department records and prepares for archival or in-house storage in accordance with county and department policyOther duties as assignedHarris County is an Equal Opportunity Employerhttps://hrrm.harriscountytx.gov/Pages/EqualEmploymentOpportunityPlan.aspxIf you need special services or accommodations, please call (713) 274-5445 or email
