The Town of East Hampton - Automotive Mechanic II in the Parks Department
Responsibilities include-
- Maintenance and repair of Parks Department equipment including weed whackers, push-and-ride-on lawn mowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, snow blowers, turf cats, etc.
- Service some larger machines with oil changes and lubing of bearings and joints including tractors, bobcats, track-loader, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair work including tune-ups, front end work, brake adjustments, and replacement of belts and pumps.
- Knowledge of the Skid Steer and/or forklift or have ability to learn such pieces of machinery.
- Prepare a maintenance program for general servicing of all Park’s Department equipment
- Set up and maintain a working, functional repair shop to the specifications of the Parks Department.
- Work with the department head to maintain training manuals and purchase orders
- Ability to take direction
- Exhibit a positive attitude when assisting employees with equipment issues
- Update all safety manuals and equipment guides
- Follow all safety rules and procedures
- Does related work as required
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the hourly rate of pay is $31.2959 ($65,095.47 annually) with benefits, including paid vacation, enrollment in the New York State and Local Retirement System, health care, and dental and vision coverage. Minimum qualifications; Either: (a) Completion of one (1) year of vocational education courses in either a vocational school program or in an apprentice or training program in automotive mechanics and one (1) year of work experience in the repair and rebuilding of mechanical systems and components of automotive equipment; or, (b) Two (2) years of experience in the repair and rebuilding of mechanical systems and components of automotive equipment; or, (c) Satisfactory equivalent combination of the above education and experience; or, (d) One (1) year of experience as an Automotive Mechanic I.
