Purpose of the Position
The Athletic Event Student Worker supports the successful operation of home athletic
events by assisting with a variety of game-day responsibilities. Assignments may vary
based on the sport, event needs, and staffing requirements. Student workers play an
important role in providing a positive experience for student athletes, coaches, officials,
and spectators while ensuring events run efficiently and professionally.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Operate concession stands, including food and beverage sales, customer service, and cash
handling.
- Staff ticketing tables by selling tickets, checking admissions, and assisting spectators.
- Serve as a field or court/floor worker to support game operations and ensure a safe
competition environment.
- Operate the scoreboard, game clock, and other game management equipment.
- Make public address announcements during athletic events when needed.
- Assist with sport-specific game-day setup and breakdown, including preparing competition
areas, equipment, and spectator spaces.
- Perform additional event-related duties as assigned by the Athletic Department staff.
Work Expectations
- Student workers are expected to report one hour prior to the scheduled start time of each

assigned home athletic event unless otherwise directed by a supervisor.
- Employees must maintain a professional appearance, demonstrate excellent customer
service, and work effectively as part of a team.
- Assignments and responsibilities may vary depending on the sport, event schedule, staffing
needs, and operational requirements.
- Student workers are expected to follow all Athletic Department policies, safety procedures,
and supervisor instructions while representing the department in a professional manner.
