- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility exercises to foster independence.
- Implement tailored care plans developed by occupational therapists, ensuring each patient receives personalized therapy interventions.
- Support patients across various settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments.
- Apply your knowledge of physiology and anatomy to help patients regain or improve functional abilities through therapeutic activities.
- Document patient progress accurately and communicate updates to the supervising occupational therapist to ensure optimal care adjustments.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and strategies for ongoing recovery or maintenance at home.
- Maintain compliance with medical terminology standards and safety protocols while delivering high-quality patient care. Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Prior experience working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient hospital units, outpatient clinics, or home health settings is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy relevant to occupational therapy practices.
- Experience assisting with ADLs and implementing care plans for diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Knowledge of occupational health principles and ability to adapt interventions for acute care or outpatient environments.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and educating patients effectively.
- Ability to work independently in inpatient or outpatient settings while adhering to safety standards and professional guidelines.
