School Bus Mechanic.
RideSource Inc. is looking for an experienced mechanic to help repair and maintain a fleet of school buses at locations in Oxford and Bethel, Maine. Any mechanical experience will be considered, but those with medium/heavy duty vehicle experience are preferred, especially school buses.
Qualifications:
- Maine State Inspection License;
- CDL class B with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements;
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required;
- Vocational/technical certification in heavy-duty diesel or automotive repair is preferred;
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications in School Bus or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks is preferred;
- Commercial Vehicle Inspection License (Class B).
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance including but not limited to oil changes, tune-ups, and other scheduled maintenance on gas and diesel buses;
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions in critical systems like engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and electrical components;
- Proficiency with diagnostic software;
- Prepare and inspect buses to pass annual Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) and Department of Transportation (DOT) school bus safety requirements;
- Respond to on-road breakdowns and preform necessary field repairs;
- Document all repairs, parts used, and time spend on work orders using provided fleet maintenance software;\
- Track and maintain parts inventory;
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Reliably commute and arrive to work on time;
- Pass drug screening and background check;
- Ability to safely work with large equipment, power tools, and heavy parts;
- 2 to 5+ years of related experience in medium/heavy fleet maintenance;
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in various weather and environmental conditions.
Hours:
- Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm with some overtime opportunities seasonally.
