Principal Engineering Architect

We are seeking a hands-on Principal Engineering Architect to lead end-to-end architecture across embedded devices, hardware, firmware, application software, communication layers, gateways, backend services, APIs, data flows, testing, diagnostics, and engineering processes.
This is a broad systems architecture role within R&D—not an enterprise IT or cloud-only position.
Responsibilities
- Define scalable architecture across embedded systems, hardware, software, APIs, backend services, gateways, and data flows.
- Design system workflows, interfaces, diagnostics, fault handling, recovery, and operational monitoring.
- Architect OTA update strategies, including validation, staged deployment, rollback, fallback, and safe recovery.
- Review and guide embedded code, APIs, integrations, and technical implementations.
- Support RTOS-based systems, state machines, task scheduling, event-driven design, and real-time environments.
- Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, mentoring, and technical decision-making.
- Improve engineering efficiency through automation, simulation, diagnostics, testing, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Collaborate across Hardware, Firmware, Software, Data, Cloud, Test, Product, and Operations teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of embedded systems or embedded software development experience.
- 2+ years leading embedded software architecture, platform design, or major system initiatives.
- Advanced embedded C/C++ experience.
- Strong RTOS and real-time systems experience.
- Hardware/software integration and low-level debugging experience.
- Proven ownership of embedded products or systems from concept through production.
- Strong troubleshooting, systems thinking, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Renesas, MSP430, Nordic, or similar microcontrollers.
- I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Bluetooth, OBD-II, cellular, or RS485.
- OTA updates, diagnostics, rollback, recovery, and field-service architecture.
- Python, Java, or C# for tooling, automation, or integration.
- Regulated, safety-sensitive, connected-product, automotive, or hardware-centric environments.
- ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
