Food Service Director (LTC) - Burlington, Vermont

Job Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic leader with strong food service management experience to oversee daily operations, manage dietary staff, and ensure high-quality meals and service for our residents. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with experience in a nursing home, skilled nursing facility, long-term care, healthcare, or similar setting.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the dietary department, including meal preparation, service, sanitation, and staffing
- Manage and supervise dietary staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and department workflow
- Ensure meals are prepared and served according to resident needs, physician orders, therapeutic diets, and facility standards
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including food safety, sanitation, and long-term care guidelines
- Work closely with nursing, administration, and clinical teams to support resident satisfaction and nutritional care
- Monitor food inventory, ordering, budgeting, and cost control
- Ensure the kitchen and dining areas remain clean, safe, organized, and inspection-ready
- Address resident concerns and help maintain a positive dining experience
Qualifications:
- Previous food service management experience required
- Experience in a nursing home, skilled nursing facility, long-term care, healthcare, or similar setting preferred
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety, sanitation, and healthcare dietary regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage staff, schedules, inventory, and daily department operations
- ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification preferred
