Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and early childhood education strategies.
- Provide physical assistance and behavioral support to students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities.
- Support students during classroom activities, including managing behavior and facilitating communication using techniques such as American Sign Language when appropriate.
- Help create a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management and behavior management strategies tailored for students with special needs.
- Assist with daily childcare routines for young children or toddlers, ensuring their safety, comfort, and engagement during school hours.
- Handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and staff.
Skills
- Experience working with children in early childhood education or childcare settings.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices for supporting students with disabilities.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Ability to provide physical assistance to students requiring mobility or behavioral support.
- Experience working specifically with individuals on the autism spectrum or those with developmental disabilities is highly valued.
- Basic math skills and literacy education experience to support classroom learning activities.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information discreetly while fostering a safe learning environment.
