Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Veterinary Technician to join our passionate veterinary team. Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor veterinary technician staff, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere focused on outstanding animal care
- Assist veterinarians with complex surgical procedures, including anesthesia administration, monitoring, and recovery management
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures such as X-ray imaging and interpret radiology diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnoses
- Conduct laboratory work including phlebotomy, sample collection, and processing for diagnostic testing
- Manage animal restraint and handling for various species, ensuring safety and comfort during examinations and treatments
- Administer medications, IV insertions, catheterizations, and other veterinary procedures with precision and aseptic technique
- Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software while ensuring compliance with all protocols for critical & intensive care cases
- Support emergency medicine efforts by providing critical care interventions and assisting in veterinary anesthesia monitoring during surgeries
- Operate medical equipment effectively, including radiology machines, laboratory analyzers, and anesthesia systems
- Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow-up care to enhance client satisfaction
Qualifications
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in animal husbandry and emergency medicine
- Extensive kennel experience along with dog handling skills for various breeds and sizes
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques
- Hands-on experience with dental terminology, dental procedures, and veterinary surgical assistance
- Familiarity with laboratory work such as phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and laboratory diagnostics
- Competence in general anesthesia management including anesthesiology principles and veterinary anesthesia monitoring
- Ability to perform vascular access procedures like IV insertion and animal catheterization efficiently
- Experience working with veterinary software systems for record keeping and scheduling purposes
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members in a fast-paced environment.
