Position Summary
Blue Heron Recovery is seeking a compassionate and skilled Detox Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide high-quality nursing care to clients undergoing substance withdrawal management and stabilization. The Detox LVN plays a vital role in supporting client safety, monitoring withdrawal symptoms, administering medications, and collaborating with the medical and clinical teams to provide a safe and supportive recovery environment.
The ideal candidate is dependable, empathetic, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping individuals begin their recovery journey.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care and support to clients in a detoxification setting.
- Complete nursing assessments, monitor vital signs, and evaluate withdrawal symptoms using approved assessment tools.
- Observe clients for changes in medical or behavioral status and promptly report concerns to the medical provider and nursing leadership.
- Administer medications safely and accurately according to physician orders and facility protocols.
- Assist with medication management, including documentation, storage, and controlled medication procedures.
- Monitor clients for medication effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Support client comfort, safety, dignity, and emotional well-being throughout the detox process.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate relevant client updates.
- Provide education to clients regarding medications, withdrawal symptoms, health concerns, and recovery resources.
- Follow all state regulations, licensing requirements, HIPAA guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications
- Current and active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) license in the applicable state.
- Experience in detoxification, substance use treatment, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or a related healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of withdrawal management protocols and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients experiencing physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced clinical environment.
