Position Summary
The Residential Advocate plays a vital role in supporting shelter operations and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for residents. This position requires compassion, adaptability, and the ability to respond effectively in crises while maintaining professionalism and strong boundaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to crises, including answering hotline calls and providing crisis intervention
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and respectful treatment of all shelter residents
- Complete new client onboarding, including shelter tours and welcome kits
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, logs, and shift reports
- Monitor shelter conditions, ensuring cleanliness and organization of all spaces
- Perform routine room inspections and maintain accurate room status updates
- Assist with volunteer coordination and shelter-related events
- Support daily shelter operations, including kitchen assistance and supply distribution
- Communicate effectively with team members, including shift handoffs and weekly meetings
- Monitor security cameras as needed in accordance with policy
- Transport clients locally as required
- Handle incoming calls, inquiries, and donation coordination
- Promote a trauma-informed, client-centered, and strengths-based environment

- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
- Experience in residential advocacy or human services is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Valid Texas driver's license and current auto insurance
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
