Position Overview
Innovative Technologies is seeking a motivated and dependable Fire Alarm Technician to join our growing team. This position involves all aspects of fire alarm system installation, testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with commercial fire alarm systems and be comfortable performing both service and installation work in the field.
The Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for ensuring that fire alarm systems operate reliably and comply with applicable codes and customer requirements. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism with customers.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled fire alarm inspections and testing in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Troubleshoot fire alarm system troubles, alarms, and communication issues.
- Install fire alarm devices, including smoke detectors, pull stations, horn/strobes, modules, and control equipment.
- Run conduit, pull wire, and assist with system installations and upgrades.
- Program and configure fire alarm systems as needed.
- Test and verify proper operation of fire alarm systems after installation or repair.
- Inspect, test, and replace batteries when necessary.
- Conduct water flow and supervisory device testing when required.
- Complete accurate inspection, service, and installation documentation.
- Communicate test results, deficiencies, and repair recommendations to management and customers.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a professional manner.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access ceilings when necessary.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience installing, testing, servicing, or troubleshooting fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes.
- Experience running conduit and pulling wire in commercial environments.
- Experience with fire alarm manufacturers such as Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Notifier, or similar systems.
- NICET certification (preferred but not required).
- Experience with access control and security systems is a plus.
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
