Lead HVAC Service Technician / Startup Technician
Janal Heating & Air Conditioning is seeking an experienced Lead HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. This is a key position within the company, serving as our primary service technician and playing an important role in service, system startups, commissioning, and installations.

Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot residential and light commercial HVAC systems
- Service and repair gas furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, mini-splits, and ventilation systems
- Perform startup, commissioning, and verification of newly installed systems
- Verify proper airflow, refrigerant charge, controls, and overall system performance
- Read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical and control issues
- Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, builders, and project managers
- Complete service reports and documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and work area
- Support and mentor junior technicians and installers
- Assist with heating and air conditioning installations as needed. This is a hybrid position, and when service demand is slow, technicians must be willing and able to perform HVAC installation work.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of HVAC field experience preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple HVAC brands and system types
- Experience performing system startups and commissioning
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, airflow, controls, and electrical diagnostics
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- EPA Certification required
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift equipment and work in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and on ladders
