Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Home Health Occupational Therapist Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering personalized, compassionate care to clients in their home environments. This energetic position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals to implement treatment plans that enhance independence and improve quality of life. You will support clients across diverse age groups, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with neurodevelopmental or disabilities, ensuring they receive tailored interventions that promote functional abilities and overall well-being.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility, fostering independence in their home settings
- Implement treatment plans designed by licensed occupational therapists, including therapeutic exercises and manual handling techniques
- Support pediatric clients with developmental delays or autism through specialized occupational therapy interventions
- Help facilitate patient transport within the home or to medical appointments when necessary
- Document care activities accurately, maintaining detailed care documentation and progress notes in compliance with healthcare standards
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to ensure cohesive care delivery and clear communication
- Contribute to care plan development by providing insights on client progress and response to therapies
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in home health settings or outpatient clinics is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practices
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, or in geriatrics is preferred
- Acute care or skilled nursing facility experience adds valuable insight into complex patient needs
- Familiarity with pediatric occupational therapy techniques for childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while supporting client mobility and transfers
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients’ families and caregivers effectively
- Demonstrated ability to follow treatment plans accurately while adapting to individual client needs
