Job Duties and Responsibilities:

7. Medical Assistant Duties
· Patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include organizing patient flow and accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
· Assess patient’s general condition and collect patient history and vitals
· Document health history, activities medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record
· Provide basic patient care as ordered by physician and assist physician with various procedures
· Provides patient education materials, communicates physician advise/instructions to patient
· Cast and splint application and removal
· Fit patients with braces, boots, other DME as ordered by physician
· Wound dressing changes
· Prepare injections
· Suture and staple removal
· Phlebotomy
· Callin prescriptions/refills to pharmacies
· Sterile tray set-ups
· Obtain/x-ray reports
· Prepare specimen and orders to send to lab
· Submits referral for MRI, CT scans, labs, etc.
· Obtain prior authorizations
· Submits referrals to other physicians
· Clean and stock exam rooms
· Manage inventory of medical supplies and injections
· Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies
· Compliance with HIPPA, OSHA, and Red Flag Rules
· Prioritizing workload and completes all tasks in a timely manner
8. Qualifications

9. Requirements:
· High school diploma or GED certificate, AA degree preferred
· Good communication skills
10. Physical/Mental Requirements:
· Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, stopping, lifting, bending, reaching
· Must be able to use appropriate body mechanic techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
· Occasional stress from workload
· Must be able to use variety of office equipment including phone, copy machine, writing instruments, PC, fax and medical equipment including stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, and cast saw equipment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
