Montessori by the Sea is launching a new hands-on STEM program for our upper elementary students in grades 4–6. The program will serve approximately 30 students, divided into three small groups of 10 students each.
The goal of the program is to encourage exploration, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving through science, technology, engineering, math, robotics, coding, and design-based challenges. Students will work in teams to imagine, build, test, improve, and present their ideas in a supportive Montessori environment.
Projects may include robotics and coding, LEGO Computer Science & AI activities, bridge-building challenges, Rube Goldberg machines, battery-operated signs, mini vehicles, LED costume design, sewing and service-based design projects, cardboard prototyping, simple circuits, and creative engineering challenges using recycled and reusable materials.
Position Overview
We are seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Part-Time STEM Program Instructor to help start, develop, and teach this new program. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, has experience with hands-on learning, and can guide students through project-based STEM challenges in a way that supports independence, curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
This role includes both teaching and program start-up responsibilities. The instructor will help organize the STEM space, manage supplies, design age-appropriate lessons, lead small-group sessions, and create a safe, engaging environment where students can build, code, design, and experiment.
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
