Position Overview: We are seeking a Construction Laborer / Helper to assist skilled tradespeople on construction sites by performing general labor tasks. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support team and other tradespeople with their work.
- Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from the job site.
- Help with the assembly and disassembly of scaffolding and other structures.
- Perform basic demolition work, including removing debris and breaking down materials.
- Clear and prepare construction sites for work by removing waste, digging trenches, and leveling ground.
- Assist in setting up and securing job sites by ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Load and unload building materials and tools from trucks.
- Organize and maintain tools and supplies on-site to ensure they are easily accessible to workers.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and wear proper safety equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, gloves, and boots.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize hazards.
- Report safety concerns or potential hazards to supervisors.
- Assist with the mixing of materials such as cement, mortar, and plaster.
- Provide manual labor support in areas like lifting, carrying, and digging.
- Perform basic cleaning tasks such as sweeping and removing construction debris.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous construction or general labor experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including hot, cold, and wet environments.
Work Environment:
- Construction sites can be noisy, hazardous, and may require exposure to heights.
- Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors depending on the nature of the project.
Competitive Pay with Flexible Rates:
Pay starts at $12.00 per hour, but may be adjusted for projects covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA) or Davis-Bacon Act (DBA), depending on the contract requirements.
