This is a paid position. We are currently accepting inquiries. Denominational membership is welcome, but is not required. We will consider pianists interested in transitioning to organ. We also have a fantastic backup organist who is able to fill in as needed, providing convenient flexibility for our regular musician. She is also able to help train a pianist on our organ.
Our worship follows the liturgies of the Book of Common Prayer (Rite II) and our hymns are mostly selected from the Hymnal 1982, to be readily singable. The bishop of our diocese recently remarked upon a visit to St. Andrew’s that, “One thing I note every time I go there is that people are not afraid to sing, it is nice to hear a congregation lifting their voices in song!”
Worship at St. Andrew’s lasts approximately 1 hour, with optional coffee hour. Our current liturgical style can be considered Broadchurch, mixing a warm accessibility and openness with emphasis on beauty and reverence - all anchored within the rhythms of the Church’s ancient, living sacramental tradition as expressed through the Prayer Book. There are typically four congregational hymns and two short service music pieces (Gloria and Sanctus). Prelude, postlude, and music during Communion are also desired. The Vicar oversees liturgy. While the Liturgy Committee currently selects hymns, we are open to dialog on music selection. We do not currently have a choir but enjoy wide participation from congregational singing.
Interested musicians may be invited to play on a temporary paid trial basis to determine mutual fit. Ability to reliably play on most Sunday mornings is required. St. Andrew’s is a welcoming, inclusive Christian community..
This is a part time position. Compensation is subject to agreement and is expected to be approximately $100 per service or $6,000 yearly, including any legally required benefits such as paid family leave and worker’s compensation insurance.
